The storm doesn't destroy the sky

Hello my loves,

Today I want to share a nugget of wisdom that’s really been resonating with me over the past few weeks. Depending on where you are, the world might feel a bit higgledy-piggledy right now, but this little gem is a handy reminder that there’s room in your heart for all of it.

Consider, if you will, the sky. Limitless and blue, it has the capacity to hold all manner of weather, from bright and shining glory to the most terrible of storms. But no matter what passes through it, nothing destroys the sky. Here, we draw a parallel to you and your beautiful heart. Just like the sky, your heart has the space and strength to deal with whatever it needs to. In the midst of a terrible storm, actual or emotional, it might feel like the world is ending. But even the most vicious of storms cannot break the sky. Nor can your emotional challenges destroy your heart. Your heart is indestructible. Even when it’s broken, it heals.

In Sydney we’re in lockdown, and if there’s a single situation that brings all your junk to the surface, it’s a lockdown. Even if you’re elsewhere, the merry-go-round energy of this section of 2021 might have you feeling a little triggered. I’ve found it really helpful to try not to fear my emotions, and instead know that there’s space in my heart for everything I need to feel. When I wobble or stumble, I look to the sky. Whether it’s holding clouds, a storm, or a rainbow, it reminds me of the infinite nature of my heart, that essence of me that can never be destroyed. I’ll feel what I need to feel. And I’ll be ok.

Can I also just say: I AM SO PROUD OF THE WORLD RIGHT NOW! Wherever you are, and whatever your particular circumstances, my recent experience is that everyone is being really brave. I’ve encountered many, many people who are looking on the bright side of their particular situation, and it makes my heart so happy. We’re ok! It’s all ok. And so my good people, on we go. Another cosy winter weekend awaits me, filled with cooking, walking and knitting. Wherever you are, and whatever you’re doing, I send you my love and best wishes as you do it. Until next week my loves 💙.

Love, Rachel xxx
