The o-word

Hello my loves,

Surprise! It’s me on a Monday! Last week got away on me a little, and come Friday I couldn’t quite get to you. But here I am now, popping in to wish you an amazing week, and to bring your attention to something that’s been on my mind. With lockdowns a go-go, everything feels a bit messy right now, but for all the uncertainty, there’s something else too. Amidst the life-juggling and stalling and plans left hanging, there’s a certain o-word lingering off to the side, trailing her fingers languidly along the fence-top, waiting to be noticed. That word, my darlings, is opportunity.

Whilst there’s certainly a lot that can’t be done in lockdown, there’s an equal and perhaps more intriguing field of opportunity that lies here too. I mean, when else will you have the time. So have a good think about how you could make this experience work for you in some way. It could be the opportunity to try something new that’s been calling you, or having more time for the things you know you love. Perhaps it’s the time to make a change, to gather the emotional energy to vamoose a boring old habit, or release a behaviour that you know doesn’t serve you. Perhaps it’s the time to have a good old-fashioned rest, something that seems to so often elude us. Whatever it is, for all that there’s not right now, there’s opportunity too.

For me, alongside my new-found passion for knitting, I’ve been loving Quiet Sydney. Less traffic lends walks a gentler energy, and I have so been enjoying it. I’m also using this time to try and learn fun styles to do with my newly grown-out hair (helloooo Dutch braid - it doesn’t all have to be serious!). And lastly, I’m trying my best to lean into the opportunities for emotional growth that life’s presenting me, rather than barricading myself behind the bathroom door with my eyes closed, hoping they’ll go away.

And so my darlings, whether you’re in lockdown or not, I’ll leave you to ponder the opportunities that are currently presenting themselves you, and consider which of them you’d like to breathe a little life into. Oh, and that other o-word? One might hazard that there’s never been a better time to get more of those on your dance card too, so feel free to go forth and make that happen in whatever way works for you. I mean, when else will you have the time 😉.

Love, Rachel xxx
